A message from the coworkers to the chapter participants
Thank you for involving us in the process of deep reflection at this Chapter on behalf of all coworkers.
We return to our Provinces, highly motivated, and strongly aware of the work that is required on the part of Brothers and Coworkers, to ensure that the Charism of Hospitality in our changing world is sustained, evident and coherent at all levels.
We embrace with enthusiasm, confidence, and courage all the challenges of the times, ready to walk together on a path towards full realisation of hospitality “We invite you to join us with an open heart and mind, welcoming our feelings.”
Here are our wishes and dreams for the future:
- We consider it crucial to promote a model of governance that is practiced in a way that is consistent with the Charism, that reflects co-responsibility, that is implemented and evaluated without losing our essence, and that promotes synergies and a greater exchange of knowledge and global experiences, without frontiers.
- We believe it is important that we strengthen the global identity of our hospitaller family to create a common corporate brand as a worldwide health and social organization, and a common employee brand for students and coworkers to attract and retain talent.
- We need an authentic charismatic renewal, deepening the formation of brothers, coworkers and volunteers, so that we work together and move forward with honesty, guided by the Spirit of St. John of God for the benefit of his works. We should be conscious of our history, our culture and charismatic identity but adapt to the new times. We must strengthen all that makes us different: Pastoral Care, Bioethics and Charismatic Management.
- We should be pro-active and respond collectively in crisis situations.
- We would like to see that the development and recognition of hospitaller vocations is encouraged, to provide mentoring and to support the continuity of our services. The Holy Spirit works in many different ways.
- We want collaborative leadership to be fostered.
- We would like to see encouragement for the search for innovative solutions in addressing vulnerabilities, including the promotion of research, the humanised application of new technologies, health education and good environmental practices.
- We would like to see models of care that encourage continuous improvement in all its processes, that reinforce bioethical and pastoral practice, that recognize the importance of the voice and experience of those assisted, that promote good health and that bring care closer to the community. Let us accompany the sick and most needy.
- We consider it important to have an honest and sustainable commitment to make the consensus i that emerges from this chapter a priority input for all provinces.
The Order is life, we ask you to have confidence in God. We coworkers are with you, to face the challenges of emerging needs in this changing world together. We are part of this mission and it is our wish to extend it to reach more people in need.
May the Holy Spirit continue to enlighten the work of the General Chapter and the election of the new General Government. Have faith, have confidence and BE BOLD!
